Has anyone popped the question yet?
We’re not talking marriage here, but the dreaded “What plans for New Year?”
Whether you’re New Year party hangout is set in stone or not, you probably have that nagging question in the back of your mind already… “What do I wear?”
Sparkles, sequins, shine… it’s all fair game on New Years. It’s all about embracing the opportunity to be as eye catching as you can with glitzy outfits that are a little wild and a little festive.
When wearing a metallic outfit, combine other metallic jewelry that clashes to create an attention grabbing outfit. Keep the jewelry closer to your face, rather than overlapping on the fabric.
Jewelry tip: Pieces like drop earrings and chokers would work well with flowy metallic dresses.
TAKE THE PLUNGE
Dresses or jumpsuits with a plunging neckline have an advantage. Apart from being eye catching, they are streamlined in a way that accentuates your silhouette.
Jewelry tip: Opt for multi layer neck pieces and layer up with bracelets to finish off this look.
The colour is ideal for literally any event – so why should New Year be any different? Use interesting accents like chain link shoes to instantly dress up a black neck halter top or add a little flair with over the knee boots.
Jewelry tip: When rocking the LBD, remember to add sparkle. Consider fine jewelry to increase the level of formality of your look, or go grunge with chunky accessories.
SHORT AND SEXY IN SEQUINS
Sequins look best when they aren’t featured top to toe – such as in a maxi dress. Consider a heavy sequined crop top while keeping everything else muted. For a more casual look, team it with high waist black denims or with a midi skirt to go casual.
Jewelry tip: Stick with shorter hemlines and unless your top/dress is low cut, stay away from neck pieces. A statement ring and delicate watch is all you need.
Show some skin, pick an interesting neckline (such as a gathered or one shoulder dress) or go backless. Mix and match accessories to create different looks for different levels of formality. Most importantly, remember to keep safe, consume alcohol within limits, and don’t drink and drive.
